A Girls Lunch at BAR

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! Today is my first day back at work, I hope it’s a good one! While I’m getting back into the swing of things over here I’ve got more Connecticut recaps for you. The Runner’s World event this past fall was my first blog event of any kind and I was so excited. I got to meet some amazing FitFluential ladies that weekend and I had the best time hanging out and getting to know them. I’m not sure how Alec, of Pop Fit Life,  and I got talking that weekend but we hung out a lot and I remember wishing we lived closer to each other because I knew we would be good friends. We have so much in common and it was so much fun spending time with her. It’s really nice to find someone who loves Disney just as much as you do! ;p She just moved to Connecticut, so when we started making plans to try and hangout while I was there, I was really excited. She was so sweet and drove to New Haven to meet me for lunch. She had heard a lot about the city’s pizza (I didn’t know this before meeting Josh but it’s legendary), and now that I’ve eaten here a few times, I felt like I could hold my own in helping her experience some of New Haven’s finest.

We decided to go to BAR, my personal favorite of the New Haven pizza I’ve tried, for some of their incredible pizza.

We started off sharing their “small” salad. I’ve gotten it every time and I never get tired of it, it’s so good. It had gorgonzola cheese, candied pecans, pears, and red wine vinegar on it and despite us both eating multiple portions of it, we still had leftovers. There was enough salad to feed a family.

For our main course we shared a medium potato pizza. When Josh first told me about potato pizza I was really skeptical. And I love potatoes, my nickname was the potato baby when I was little I loved them so much. But something about potatoes on pizza didn’t sound to right to me. Then Josh and his family took me to BAR for the first time and we ordered a potato pizza. The rest as they say, is history. The pizza was just as good as I remembered it. And bonus, we had tons of leftovers! Their pizza is just as good cold.

It was so much fun getting to girl chat and hang out with Alec. We wanted to make a day of it but it started snowing pretty badly while we ate so she dropped me off back at Josh’s parents and then made the trip back to Stamford. I’m hoping another blog event will let us hang out again soon!

Question of the Day: Have you ever met up with a blogger to hang out? Was it weird talking to someone you’ve only read about before? It wasn’t weird meeting Alec because I started reading her blog after I met her for the first time, so it was like reading about someone I already knew.  At the Runner’s World event it was a little weird for me when I realized I was talking to bloggers that I read on a consistent basis. But then they were so nice they made me stop feeling awkward. ;p
