So that exciting thing Josh and I did this past weekend that I couldn’t wait to share with you guys? We bought my wedding band!
A wedding band was an expense we really didn’t think much of when we started wedding planning. My engagement ring is GORGEOUS, and already such an expense that a bling-ed out wedding ring seemed excessive. My engagement ring has a matching wedding band option, but we planned to save money by just finding another nice (cheaper) ring and saving up at a later date for the matching band. Josh has an heirloom ring in his family that he would like to use for himself, so he is already taken care of.
Over the past few months we’ve browsed a lot of jewelry stores in PA and found some very pretty rings, but they didn’t quite sit right with my ring. My engagement ring has the stone set very high, so all the wedding bands I tried rubbed against the stone and we worried about it eventually causing the stone to come loose. We asked jewelers if there was a way to have the rings sit flush with each other and we were told unless we got the matching band I would have to have my engagement ring filed down to rest against the wedding band. That was not something I was willing to do.
So the trip to New Haven presented us with the opportunity to visit the store where Josh got my engagement ring and for us to see the matching wedding band.
We headed to Rumanoff’s in Hamden, Connecticut. It’s crazy to think four months ago Josh was here engagement ring shopping.
Debbie (Josh’s mom) is really good friends with Robin, who is really good friends with the owner of Rumanoff’s, Mike. Josh and I are good friends with Robin’s daughter Becca, who is now working for Mike. It was so cool getting to go into the store and work with Becca. She was so professional. 
I put on the matching band and it was love at first sight. Even with the test ring being a bigger size than I would need, the rings were already the same height. And once the ring is the same size they’ll sit flush with each other with no space in between.
I fell in love with how they looked together. Even though this ring is more expensive than the others we were looking at we weighed our options and determined this to be the better option for us. The composition of white gold varies between ring brands, so it’s likely if I got a non-matching ring they would show age differently. Also, spending money on a non-matching ring now only to save up for this ring later seemed like a bad idea. We were able to fit this ring into our budget and gold prices only keep going up, so it’s likely this ring would cost much more later. And I’m going to be wearing this for the rest of my life, so I like that I’ll be wearing the ring that Josh actually puts on my finger the day of our wedding.
We went ahead and ordered the ring, and I should be receiving it in about two weeks. I don’t know how I’m going to not wear it for the next nine months!

Question of the Day: Did you/will you splurge on your wedding band? For you engaged/married ladies, what was an area in your wedding budget you didn’t yourself spending a lot of money on that you later changed and reallocated money to?

LOVE your band! When I got married, I didn’t want to spend much on my band because my engagement ring cost so much, so I ended up getting a plain white gold band. It goes so well with my engagement ring.

I love your wedding band! I went out the same weekend I got engaged and bought my band haha. Talk about jumping the gun. (: I didn’t go there though planning to buy one I just wanted to look around and my fiance just wanted to go back to the jeweler to make sure I had all of the paperwork and knew it was insured, etc. Then we started looking around and it was love at first sight I couldn’t pass it on. It is such an awesome thing when you see thhe ring and just know. It’s a lot like the feeling of knowing the guy who gave it to you is the one!
That’s a beautiful ring! Both of them!! We didn’t splurge on our wedding bands. My husband actually got a titanium band for himself that was less than $100 (I think) and I got a simple band. I did end up upgrading a few years down the line but that was because I wasn’t wearing my engagement ring every day anymore and I needed little more sparkle

Haha I feel bad too! Josh’s ring cost him nothing and mine was such a big part of our budget. I feel like that’s typical of most wedding things though unfortunately for guys ;p

We splurged big time but we saw it as a one time investment so I thought that was fine! I did really well at budgeting our wedding but looking at all my options instead of just the ones my wedding planner gave to me. You can also save money by finding out where vendors get there supplies from and going directly to the source. Also, etsy has some unique things for great prices! Love your ring

What a beautiful ring! My engagement ring and wedding band belonged to my grandmother and I love it. We had a relatively small wedding and the one area we chose to spend the most money was on food. We had a stand-up reception so we made sure there were plenty of delicious appies out!

We’re still engagement ring shopping and unfortunately the ring I want doesn’t come with a matching wedding band. It is such a pain to try to find something to go with it without making alterations, you’re saving a lot of headache and like you said, might as well go with what you love! Congratulations!

My husband picked out my wedding band without me, which is probably a good thing, because I probably would’ve spent hours deciding what to get

For my engagement ring our budget was really limited and we ended up spending around $250. For wedding bands we splurged a little bit and because I my engagement diamond was small we opted for a diamond band and my husband got a beautiful tungston ring.
Our overall budget was low because I was a recent grad, Neil was just recovering from some debt and we were moving.
I totally understand that! We’re keeping our budget as low as possible because he’s still in grad school, I’m still in college, and we don’t want to go in debt for something that only lasts one day!
