Lose Pounds, Gain Dollars

Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a good start. This week marks the beginning of my last semester of college! It’s crazy to think I’ll be graduating in just a few months. Time really does fly. January always feels like a new beginning to me. I’m back at work, back in school, and always hoping to get back on track with my goals. As much as I love to plan, I don’t have too many concrete goals. I pretty much keep it simple: graduate college, marry Josh, find a job, save money, stay healthy, laugh more, stress less. I figure if you take care of the big things, life will take care of itself. It always seems to work out in the end. Since getting engaged and starting to plan our wedding, I have had a concrete goal in mind: get in shape for my wedding day!

I’m not talking anything drastic here. I’m a healthy weight for my size and am very happy with how I look, I’ve just always wanted to add some tone and definition to my body. I think every bride-to-be worries how she’s going to look in pictures and wants to look confident and sexy. Personally for me I want to look lean and rock some some strong, toned arms.

I had the perfect opportunity this month through FitFluential to work with DietBet to try and make my goals a reality. DietBet is a fun new way of meeting your weight and fitness goals. You simply create a free account, find a monthly challenge that interests you, join that game, place your $25 bet, and strive to lose 4% of your body weight in a month. You weigh in at the start of the challenge and at the end submitting pictures as proof of authenticity that are only shared with the DietBet staff. If you succeed in losing 4% of your body weight in a month you split the pot with everyone else who met their goals. I know I’m more motivated when there’s money on the line! And bonus, if I lose 4% of my body weight not only do I succeed in looking better in my wedding dress, I also win some cash!

Joining was really simple. I entered my account info, uploaded a picture, and selected whether I wanted my weight displayed publicly or not. I then filled in my profile with fun facts about me and searched for a game to join. Then I applied my $25 credit and voila, I was signed up!

The game I joined this month was the FitFluential DietBet. You can join too and play along and lose weight with your favorite FitFluentials! The game doesn’t start until Monday, January 21st and the pot is already up to $450! How much will you win when you lose? I’m so excited for the extra motivation to eat clean and work on my fitness! If you sign up let me know so we can cheer each other on!

And if you’re looking for a more concise description of DietBet and what they’re all about, I found this video on their site that was cute and helpful. It sums up the whole process and should answer any questions.

Question of the Day: Have you ever bet on losing weight? What are your health and fitness goals for 2013?

FitFluential LLC compensated me for this campaign. All opinions are my own.

I think this is a great idea!! You don’t need to lose any weight, but I totally agree with wanting to look amazing in your wedding dress! I’m contemplating going in on the bet… but I think it’s going to be hard for me to lose 5 lbs! LOL! I don’t want to lose! (I’m such a baby)

Aw thanks Andrea, you’re so sweet! I think the bet is going to be a lot of fun. Let me know if you join, but you are seriously teeny already!

I love your outlook on life. Even though I don’t think you need to loose weight, it is always nice to tone up a bit. You are going to make a beautiful bride <3

Yes! I’m currently hosting a DietBet and am amazed at the great community evolving! Many participants are posing on the forums several times each day, cheering each other on and sharing practical tips and advice.
A handful have already met their 4% goal!

    Enjoy! You will have fun!
