My Bridal Shower in Connecticut

This past weekend was one of the most special weekends ever. I was in Connecticut for my bridal shower with Josh’s side of the family. I have only ever been to one shower before so I had no idea what to expect. To say this shower was perfect would be an understatement. I felt so showered with love and well wishes and so very, very lucky to have the people in my life that I do. I took tons of pictures. The decorations were so beautiful I’ll try and let them speak for themselves so this post doesn’t turn into a book. I was so blown away by how amazing everything looked, and how everything was planned to the littlest detail. I truly felt like a Princess, and had such a special, happy day.

The party planner extraordinaires. Debbie and Mary have been working on this party for months and words can not express how truly thankful I am to them. They did such an amazing job and gave me such a special day. They created a shower that was above and beyond my wildest dreams.

The most delicious veggie pizza.

The food was amazing. I had quinoa, lentil sandwiches, egg finger sandwiches, eggplant parm sub slices, and a salad. Everything was so tasty!

Debbie and Mary made a scrapbook of the planning and prepping that went into the shower. It was so sweet, and I can’t wait to fill in the rest of the scrapbook with pictures from the shower to complete the book. They also made up cute little clipboards for the games.

We played a get to know the bride trivia game, guess how many rings are in the jar game, bridal shower bingo, match the famous couples, and match the  love languages game. All the games were so much fun.

All the games had winners and all the winners got to pick a prize bag. I thought these were so adorable.

Of course everyone got a prize by the end. Half of the rooms prizes.

And the other half. There were some really awesome prizes in those bags!

I love that besides all the fun stuff we did there was time to just mingle and chat. I am so lucky that Josh’s family has adopted me as fully as they have. They are such an amazing, loving group of people.

My bridesmaid Becca! Her and Josh are like brother and sister.

The most hilarious couple ever! I am so thankful to them for all the help they gave during the shower. And for feeding my cannoli addiction! :D

My beautiful fellow vegetarian who played photographer for most of the day.

My Auntie Sue! My side of the family is having a shower in May but my Auntie Sue lives in New England so it just made sense to invite her to this shower instead of asking her to travel all the way to Pennsylvania. I was SO excited to get to see her! And Josh’s family definitely adopted her as their own. :D

The next bride-to-be. She’s getting married in August!

The makers of the amazing veggie pizza. And just the all around sweetest people ever.

I’ve been missing her food since Christmas! She brought the eggplant parm sub bites and they were out of this world!

After getting to chat with everyone it was time to cut some cake! Debbie got the hugest cake I’ve ever seen.It was beautiful and delicious. This is where I’m a horrible blogger because I forget the name of the cake baker and the food caterer. Everything was so incredible though. Including those cannolis in the corner that are from the same baker as the cake. I’m pretty confident in saying they’re the best cannolis I’ve ever had.

The cake was called a bungalow cake and it was so delicious. It was chocolate on the bottom, with bananas and strawberries in the middle, vanilla on the top, and covered in whipped cream frosting. I normally don’t like chocolate cake but this entire thing was amazing.

After stuffing our faces it was time for me to open presents. Everyone was way too generous. Josh and I are going to have one well-stocked kitchen!

Becca was a wonderful secretary recording who got me what.

I should do a blog post called Erin’s ridiculous outtakes with all the crazy facial expressions people snapped me making throughout the day.

I had so much fun opening all the presents. Everything was wrapped so beautifully with such pretty cards.

Debbie and John have already given Josh and I so much for the wedding. I was not expecting them to give us a gift as well but they gave us a pretty huge one. I cannot wait to bust out these pots and pans next year in our new apartment!

After I unwrapped all the super generous presents I got my ribbons and bow hat! Debbie wanted to continue in the tradition of turning all the bows and ribbons from the gifts into a hat for me to wear. This touched me so much, not only because I am a huge sucker for tradition, but also because I have a picture of my mom at her bridal shower wearing a bow hat. I grew up looking at that picture, wondering what she was like, and what I would be like some day at my bridal shower. It’s crazy how everything has come full circle.

When Josh got back from his man day with my dad and his dad we had fun taking some pictures with my awesome new hat and showing him all the gifts we got.

I’ll leave you with this gem of a picture John snapped as my hat was falling off. I need to work on normal facial expressions for the wedding. ;p

And that was the end of a magical day. I hope your weekend was super special.

Question of the Day: What’s your favorite part of a bridal shower?
