I am trying to lead a healthy life fueled by good food and exercise. That is not to say I don't love a cannoli now and then. I'm striving for a healthy balance and blogging about the journey along the way.

Five Fun Ways to Get Your Fruits and Veggies

Erin Smith Girl Gone Veggie Naked Juice

I know I’ve mentioned it on here before, but I used to hate most fruits and some veggies. My dad used to buy bananas and make my sister and I take three or four bites each to ensure we were getting some potassium each day. We’d gag and hold our noses the entire time. I disliked fruit so much I’d scrape the strawberries off strawberry cheesecake. It wasn’t until I was 18 years old that

The Truth About Orange Juice

Orange Used For Making Orange Juice in Vitamix Erin Smith Girl Gone Veggie

So you know those orange juices you buy from the store that say they’re 100% orange juice and not made from concentrate? You would think that would mean the orange juice is fresh squeezed and then bottled and shipped directly to your local grocery store.  I was shocked to learn recently that there is more to our orange juice than meets the eye. Once commercial orange juice is squeezed it is stored in giant holding

Cookie Butter Smoothie with Silk Almondmilk

Ever since my stepmom got that blender that is the best blender in the whole world and that I rave about all the time I have been blending everything. And then when I found out that my parents got Josh and I that blender that is the best blender in the whole world and that I rave about all the time as a future wedding present, I have been telling Josh all the things I

Registering For Our Wedding

Over the break Josh and I did a lot of fun stuff, including registering for our wedding! We knew when we got engaged that we really didn’t have a lot we needed to ask for. Josh and I (but mostly Josh) both love cookware so we’re pretty blessed to have a nearly stocked kitchen already. Between all of his cooking gadgets and Kitchen Aid mixer and my complete China set and the Vitamix my parents

Eating In

I don’t know if you guys have caught on to this on my blog but during the week I eat pretty much the same thing every day. An egg and veggie burrito, oatmeal with a banana and chobani, and a big veggie and fruit smoothie are my go-to daily meals. I’ll mix it up with other things from time to time but I’m a creature of habit, when I find something I love I tend

Recipe: The Arrival

The Arrival {Plus A Mango Banana Freeze Recipe}

*Cue dramatic music.*

After an eternity of waiting (okay it was just four days…) the Vitamix Diane ordered was finally delivered to our house. To say we were excited is an understatement. To think we waited until after dinner before busting it out and whipping up sorbet gives us too much credit.

This peach sorbet from last night was our first Vitamix creation. We used a pound of frozen peaches, 1 cup

How To Make A Million

Today was a productive day. I met with my psychology group to finalize everything for our final presentation on Friday, did some more birthday shopping for my Dad, got my workout on, and mailed off some textbooks I sold online. Holla for a dolla!

I also made one of the best dinner salads I’ve ever had. Using Mama Pea’s tofu dippers recipe I broiled some tofu and placed it over a bed of
