Veggie Reviewed

Hey guys! This post is going up later than usual due to the fact I was so exhausted last night I had to get some rest. It felt so good getting to catch up on sleep. Today I wanted to share a new segment I’m introducing on my blog called Veggie Reviewed. Being a blogger I get the opportunity to sample some new products from time to time and I wanted to find an easy way to share them with you. These are not sponsored posts, I was simply sent the products with the request that if I talk about them I be completely honest. So every once and a while when I have enough products I’d like to review I’ll make a Veggie Reviewed post on here. I promise to always be honest. Hopefully you’ll get to hear about some new cool products this way! :)

Recently I received samples of the new Vega One All-In-One Nutritional Shake. As you guys know I am a HUGE fan of green smoothies so I’m always looking for new powders and mixtures to try. This one has 15g of protein and only 2g of sugar. Talk about a good ratio!

Since I’m out of hemp protein powder at the moment (and need to go pick some up today!) I decided to make my green smoothie exactly as I normally would but sub in the Vega One for my hemp protein powder. It blended up great and was the same consistency as my normal smoothie.

The smoothie was really good! There was no chalky or fake taste at all. The one thing that was probably my mistake when preparing this was I used a lot of sweet fruit. I figured since there were only 2 grams of sugar in the powder it probably wouldn’t be very sweet so I used all my sweet fruits to give it some flavor. The French Vanilla taste ended up being a little sweeter than I like, just because I’m used to a much more muted green smoothie flavor. But I will definitely try it again omitting all fruits but a banana just for a little starch in my smoothie.

The next review I have for you isn’t food at all, but glasses! I was recently contacted by Firmoo, an online prescription eyeglass and sunglasses company. They wanted to know if I would be interested in reviewing a pair of glasses. Their glasses are cheap, none of them cost more than $68 (most are around $20, tons are even less) and that includes the prescription frames. They also have certain pairs that first time buyers are able to order for free and just pay shipping. I have had to wear glasses since I was in fifth grade so I’m always looking for new frame styles. I recently bought a pair of Ray Ban glasses that I love and hope will look professional for after I graduate. They only have rims on the top half of the glasses so the bottom part of the glasses are pretty fragile. Because of this I thought a pair of tougher frames would be nice for wearing around the house since I typically only wear contacts for special occasions.

So I ended up getting a style of frame I have always wanted to try. I know they probably look pretty ridiculous but I love having huge frames. haha To order them I simply wrote down my eye measurements and lens strength that is listed on my eyeglass prescription. It was really easy. I was reading online that their shipping can take a long time but I got mine really quickly. Quality wise they’re sturdy glasses that feel like they are made of decent materials. Are they as nice as my Ray Bans? No, but they are a fifth of the price and the frames work just like they should which is ultimately what matters. I would definitely order from Firmoo again when I’m in the market for cheap glasses in cute styles.

My last review is one Josh and I both reviewed. Sneaky Pete’s is an oat based drink that I’ve actually seen at my local Wegmans and I’ve been really curious about. I was so excited to get the opportunity to try it. Josh was a little wary at first which is understandable since oat drinks are not very common and oatmeal (by far my favorite form of oats) is typically thick and chunky, two things most people are not looking for in their drinks.

I am so happy to say Sneaky Pete’s really is an oat-standing beverage that both Josh and I love! There was no hint of a grainy or chunky texture at all, it was a smooth drink that was sweet but not too sweet. With 40 calories, 5 grams of sugar, no artificial colors or additives and as much fiber as eating a bowl of oatmeal Josh and I would definitely get these again. They’re tasty!

And that is my first edition of Veggie Reviewed! I hope you liked it! :)

Question of the Day: Is Veggie Reviewed something you would like to see more of in the future? What is a product you’ve tried lately that you think people should know about?
